Social Sheffield Live Music Editor, Bea Duncan, picks the top three gigs coming to Sheffield, Mon. 24 – Sun. 30 Oct. 2016.

1. – Jake Bugg // 25.10.16 // 02 Academy – – (£28.12)

Jake Bugg has pretty much become a household name. With his incredibly unique and raw vocal style, his tracks are unmistakable… even though his style is constantly changing and evolving. Three albums deep now, with the last album released in June, Jake Bugg keeps his authentic guitar sound. He’s come a long way since performing on the BBC Introducing Stage at Glastonbury when he was 17, but Bugg still knows how to put on a show and we’ll all be singing along ‘til the encore.

For fans of: Bob Dylan, Paolo Nutini, Arctic Monkeys
Songs to listen to: Gimme The Love, Lightning Bolt, Slumville Sunrise
Hear a sample: Jake Bugg, ‘Gimme The Love’

2. – New York Tourists // 28.10.16 // Frog & Parrot – – (FREE)

New York Tourists are an exciting four-piece from Blackburn already carving out a new space for themselves in the rock scene. Described as a mix between Foals and Queens of the Stone Age, New York Tourists have all the energy you would hope to find in a new band. Their debut album ‘You and Me’ is full of uplifting tracks, so expect a high-octane show. This is definitely not one to miss if you’re looking for a bangin’ live music gig on a budget.

You would never believe the band had only met each other slightly more than a year ago, as the breezy chemistry they have on stage is hard to beat. Get yourself down to the Picture House Social for some pre-halloween girl power fun.
